Mortgage Underwriting Manager | First Bank & Trust | Sioux Falls or Brookings, SD

First Bank & Trust is looking to fill a Mortgage Underwriting Manager position. This position shall be responsible for managing the mortgage underwriting function for the organization, including providing required mortgage underwriting in accordance with both internal guidelines and secondary market standards to provide maximum profitability to the bank with minimum risk. This position assists in training the mortgage loan officers, operations staff, and processing function. This person should have a bachelor’s degree plus six years of related experience, or the equivalent. Direct endorsement (DE) certification is required. This person must have the ability to exercise independent and sound underwriting judgment and effectively apply knowledge of regulatory and industry guidelines to loan decisions. Familiarity with Encompass or similar software is preferred. Good verbal and written communication skills and analytical thinking are necessary, as well as an aptitude for supervising and developing others.

First Bank & Trust is looking to fill a WMS Sr Advisor Manager position. This person is responsible for supervising personal trust and investment officer staff in the fiduciary wealth management department. The candidate will serve as client relationship manager and administer a book of trust and investment accounts in accordance with the terms of the governing instruments and state and federal laws. This person will develop trust and investment prospects as well as focus on the retention of existing business for the bank and Wealth Management Services (WMS). Working in conjunction with the SVP/Manager of WMS, the Senior Advisor will provide leadership and act as a mentor to other Officers as it pertains to trust and estate administration, financial and estate planning, provide changes to fiduciary law and engage in sales coaching. This person will have a bachelor’s degree plus a minimum of five years of prior wealth management, trust administration, fiduciary investment management, business management, law/tax practice experience, fiduciary investment sales supervision or the equivalent. This person will have strong communication skills to enable effective communication and interaction with fellow staff, clients, and the general public.  A Juris Doctorate, CPA or CFP, as well as previous fiduciary supervision experience, is preferred but not required. It is required that this person complete advanced training as a Certified Trust and Financial Analyst or Certified Wealth Strategist. This person will possess an understanding of laws and regulations governing the administration of trust and estate accounts.

Summary:
The Pioneer Bank & Trust Compliance Department is located at the Administration Center in Spearfish. This department is responsible for the overall compliance of the bank. The Compliance Auditor is responsible for providing support to the Compliance Department with various tasks of the bank’s Compliance Management Program.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
• Performing audits of products and services to ensure compliance with federal regulations, bank policies and procedures, as they apply.
• Preparing and reviewing detailed reports of audit findings, presenting any irregularities or exceptions to the Vice President of Compliance for final review.
• Present audit findings and recommendations to the Board of Directors.
• Assist in maintaining the bank’s policies, procedures and forms.
• Provide support to bank staff on compliance issues.
• Help monitor and track the bank’s Community Development activities.
• Keep up to date with Federal Regulations.
• Assist with gathering information for examinations and external audits.
• All other duties assigned as time and knowledge permit.

Qualifications:
• Must be able to lift 25 lbs.
• Willingness to learn legal concepts and perform legal research and analysis.
• Excellent organization and writing skills.
• Attention to detail.
• Self-starter with a willingness to work and learn in a very dynamic business environment.
