The Security and Fraud Practitioner
The pandemic has brought shifts in business operations, economic impacts, and changes in consumer behavior. Criminals will be ahead of these changes by adapting or reverting to old frauds that work very well. Anybody can become a victim of fraud depending on their emotional state when approached either by telephone, computer or in-person by a social engineer. This program provides you the basis to understand how criminals are successful in attacking your account holders or your financial institution.

Active Shooter: The Warning Signs
Active Shooter events just don’t happen! This program will review the warning signs that one of your staff members or visitors might display before an actual event. The FBI has issued the report, “A Study of the Pre-Attack Behaviors of Active Shooters in the United States,” which serves as the basis for this session. We will review behaviors that many shooters display before an attack. Awareness of a person’s surroundings when an event occurs will be discussed. This session will have no physical contact and no attendees will be asked to participate in an actual demonstration or mock training exercise.

Cash Recyclers, Pod Banking, and ITMs
Banking as we’ve known it is rapidly changing. Apps, pod banking, cash recyclers, interactive teller machines, and other new technologies are affecting how we do business and offering new challenges to security. This fast-moving presentation embraces these new changes by explaining how we can implement them to make them valuable and profitable to the financial institution, while maintaining effective security protocols. This presentation isn't based upon theory. It's a real-life, real-time program relating to issues that may contribute to an institution's losses.

I Knew Something Was Wrong
When fraud losses have been discovered, how often do you hear your staff say, “I knew something was wrong!” When fraud losses occur, either internal or external, some member of our staff felt the warning signs didn’t need to be reported. The reasons for these lapses are many: fear of being wrong, fear of being ridiculed, and fear of reporting someone who may be innocent. How do we train our staff to report those internal warnings that could have saved our institution thousands of dollars? In this session, learn vital new skills and insights in educating your staff to report their gut feelings when something might be wrong. If you establish the proper framework, your staff will report what they feel is wrong.

Board Reporting: The Security Perspective
Regulations specify that the Security Officer must report to the board annually and that the implementation, administration, and effectiveness of the security program be addressed. What exactly the Security Officer should report to the board is not clearly identified in the regulations. This interactive session will review best practices relating to training, inspections, and foreseeable events that should be reported to your board.
