The COVID Economy: Where From Here?

Dr. Chris Kuehl, Managing Director, Armada Corporate Intelligence, Kansas City, Kan.

The move to restart the economy after the lockdown recession has begun, but what can we expect from this point? There are estimates calling for a robust recovery in Q3 and Q4 and estimates calling for a second wave of infection that crushes the economy again. What do we need to know right now? What should we be prepared for in the months to come? Dr. Chris Kuehl is the economic analyst for the Fabricators and Manufacturers Association and the National Association for Credit Management.

Convergence of the Big Three in Agriculture: Ag Economy, Ag Technology & Ag Experience

Doug Johnson, Director – Ag Strategist, Moody’s Analytics, Omaha, Neb.

Join Doug Johnson as he discusses the top three challenges in agriculture today: the continuing “grinder” cycle impact, what’s coming for new ag technology, and “the changing of the guard” (experience transitioning both on the farm and within ag banks). As these three challenges converge, the concern is becoming clearer: Can ag producers afford to keep farming? Can ag banks continue to be an ag bank? What will it take to survive, thrive, and remain relevant for the future? Come and hear not only the challenges, but also key opportunities for ag producers and ag lenders alike as we move into the new future of agriculture.

Wednesday, July 8, 2020 | 10:00 - 11:00 CDT

Commodities Outlook and How It Impacts the Ag Economy

Troy Bockelmann, Analyst, CattleFax, Centennial, Colo.
Ryan Moe, Regional Director, INTL FCStone Inc., Minneapolis, Minn.

In the ever-changing world of commodity prices, we experience significant ups and downs—both financially and emotionally. With a realistic approach to markets and marketing, a plan can be developed to even out the impact markets make on our business.

Troy Bockelmann and Ryan Moe will join forces to discuss market fundamentals and expectations, covering both livestock and grains. They will wrap up this session with a collaborative Q&A portion aimed at helping your clients protect and manage margins which will help strengthen your relationship with them. After all, statistics show that picking margin targets is a more sustainable way to manage an agricultural business than attempting to pick tops and bottoms in markets.
