SDBA 2020 Lead Strong: Women In Banking Conference

**Virtual Via Zoom**

September 23 - 24, 2020

Greetings from the SDBA.  I’m writing to inform you that we have had a positive COVID exposure within the SDBA office.  In order to ensure the safety and well-being of our members, the decision was made to cancel the live portion of the Women in Banking event, but continue with the virtual component.  All registrations have automatically been converted to virtual and everyone will be receiving the links to join both the connection hour as well as Thursday’s sessions.  If you are not able or willing to participate virtually, please let Jeanine ([email protected]) know and we will cancel your registration and provide you with a refund.  If you had made a hotel reservation, please cancel promptly.

We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.  We are looking forward to a great event on Wednesday/Thursday and hope that you can still join us.

Please feel free to reach out to us with any questions or concerns you may have.

ABOUT THE CONFERENCE

We don’t know about you, but we at the SDBA are COVID-ed out! Our yoga pants are worn out from working at home, we still haven’t mastered “new math,” and it’s the “freshman 15” all over again. Never have we needed each other more. Never have we needed a diversion more. Never have we needed some FUN more!

Join us Sept. 23-24, 2020, for Lead Strong: Women in Banking, which promises to educate, enlighten and engage. This year, we are providing three registration options. Join us live at the Sioux Falls Convention Center, join a watch party in Rapid City at the Mount Rushmore Society Room or join virtually via Zoom from the comfort of your home or office. All sessions will be recorded for viewing at your leisure. For those choosing to join live in Sioux Falls or Rapid City, social distancing will be practiced and the use of masks is strongly encouraged. We will continue to closely monitor the COVID situation to ensure the safety and well-being of our members. Should the need arise to hold this event only via Zoom, your registration will automatically convert to virtual.

Register early to receive a goodie box, which will be mailed to each virtual participant or available at your seat if attending live. Be sure to have access to a device (computer, tablet or smartphone) for some interactive activities throughout the day. Also, BYOTP (Bring Your Own Toilet Paper) for the Mystery Session. Please bring one roll. We know you have plenty around!

It’s how we choose to overcome this challenge that makes us stand apart from others and prove our character and self-worth. This session will focus on live demonstrations of the mobile apps that are re-imagining everyday banking tasks. Thompson works with bank clients to develop checking programs that simplify account lineups, build brand loyalty and grow fee income. His experience provides him with a unique understanding of how industry challenges affect each bank differently and allows him to share successful sales approaches and implementable takeaways.

2:40–2:55 p.m. Scavenger Hunt

Door prizes abound! During this brief session, you will have an opportunity to compete for some fabulous door prizes. Sharpen up your critical thinking skills and get ready to click.

Inspired by her TEDx Talk, Dima Ghawi uses her personal story of transformation as a powerful teaching tool to encourage women to face and conquer their internal limitations. This keynote recounts the struggles and triumphs of her personal journey with vulnerability and insight that will resonate with each audience member and spark a guiding light for their individual journey of self-discovery and leadership growth. By addressing internal limitations, such as the fear of failure, worries about being judged and the pursuit of perfection, Ghawi dares each individual to look deeper into their own internal limitations and equips them with the tools and inspiration it takes to shatter those limitations and emerge as empowered individuals and leaders. Ghawi has two decades of corporate experience leading virtual global teams and developing future leaders worldwide.
